POSITION: Quality Control Technician

REPORTS TO: Quality Control Manager

SUMMARY: The primary responsibility of this position is to execute tasks supporting the Food Safety plan


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Monitoring, sampling and testing food products to ensure they comply with quality standards and customer specifications.
  • Verification of sanitation activities, including preoperational inspections, swabbing, and communicating corrective actions to production personnel.
  • HACCP monitoring and verification, including metal detector and x-ray checks and calibrations.
  • Aseptic sampling for microbiological, allergen and other product testing and validation.
  • Monitoring GMP adherence within the manufacturing facility; working with production employees to ensure that all Good Manufacturing Practices are followed.
  • Maintaining current packaging proofs and revisions. Facilitating new packaging transitions with production and dispositions with customers. Maintain packaging related documentation, including pallet patterns, lot code binders, and bar code bulk labels.
  • Completing and filing accurate and legible QC records and documentation.
  • Calibration, cleaning and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Liaising with production personnel and supervisors on day to day activities.
  • Work with customers and consumers to resolve complaints; trend and report complaints to senior management with root cause analysis and continuous improvement recommendations.
  • Investigate, trend, analyze and report complaints quarterly
  • Other tasks as assigned

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A University degree in Food Science or related field, or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of HACCP and GMP's.
  • Strong computer and organizational skills; working knowledge of MS Office.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Activities include walking, kneeling, lifting, climbing ladders and stairs, bending, stacking, twisting, pulling, pushing, inserting, sitting, squatting, standing, accumulating and collating motions.
  • Be able to handle 50# of material with assistance occasionally.

WORK CONDITIONS

  • Candidates must be willing to cross-training on various line positions
  • Must be available to work overtime hours if needed
  • Operation is located in a manufacturing facility and attached warehouse
