Quality Control Supervisor

The Quality Control Supervisor helps implement food safety and quality compliance programs by overseeing the food production processes and the personnel on our Quality Assurance Team. This role must understand food processing, be able to meet food safety requirements and GFSI standards, as well as collaborate with team members both inside and outside of the department.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Supervise all quality control staff, including hiring, scheduling, training, approving payroll and conducting performance reviews
  • Ensure all product testing is completed to meet customer specifications
  • Manage the Positive Release Program to control shipments to ensure products meet all customer requirements
  • Perform immediate non-conformance response and investigation, including working with the Food Safety Manager to drive corrective and preventive actions
  • Coordinate responses to products that test out-of-spec
  • Review and provide updates to all Standard Operating Procedures for lab testing, product and line inspections, and other related topics
  • Manage the plant's Environmental Monitoring Program, including the collection, analysis, and reporting of data to internal and external constituents
  • Manage the plant's inventory of materials related to Quality and Sanitation (e.g., lab consumables, testing kits, and Sanitation chemicals)
  • Ensure the consistent and accurate completion of all required forms in Galileo
  • Ensure the consistent and accurate completion of all paper forms related to quality tests of production
  • Manage QA-related product specifications in Galileo
  • Coordinate with outside contractors to perform equipment calibrations
  • Manage the upkeep and performance of the plant's metal detectors and checkweighers
  • Monitor and verify sanitation of the facility and equipment. Work with Pest control on trending reports, results, and corrective action

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A University degree in Food Science or related field, or equivalent.
  • PCQI and HACCP certified or willing and able to obtain.
  • At least 1 year of proven supervisory experience.
  • At least 1 years of experience in a food manufacturing facility regulated by the FDA.
  • Strong computer and organizational skills; working knowledge of MS Office.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Activities include walking, kneeling, lifting, climbing ladders and stairs, bending, stacking, twisting, pulling, pushing, inserting, sitting, squatting, standing, accumulating and collating motions.
  • Be able to handle 50# of material with assistance occasionally.
